5 Of The Best Red Lipsticks Of All Time

A great red lip is a perfect way to show off your personality. One of the reasons I became a beauty blogger is because makeup and all it’s accessories really set the mood. Whether you are fierce and in boss mode or chill and breezy adding a bold lip will always make you appear just a little more dressed up, no matter what you’re wearing. I know that wearing a red lip on your melanated skin can be tricky. So as a rule, I love red lipsticks with blue tints versus one with an orange tint. But at the end of the day, it’s all about your preference. And that’s where I come in to help you. Here are 10 of the best red lipsticks of all time, for any skin tone but specifically my brown girls.

1.) Sephora Collection Matte Red in Always Red $14

This red is beyond a classic and definitely my all-time favorite (I’m wearing it in the picture above). It’s probably the first red I ever tried. I remember instantly falling in love with it. It’s the kind of red that needs no chaser (read: no lip liner). It has more of a blue tint which is perfect for brown girls. Warning: because it’s on the cheap side you can plan to reup your coverage midday. You get what you pay for.

2.) M.A.C Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo $18.50

There is something really universal about this lipstick which makes it an instant classic. Like Sephora’s Always Red it’s a lip with blue undertones which makes it perfect for any complexion. It was so perfect that Rihanna even remixed this shade affectionately naming it Riri Woo.

3.) Nars Powermatte Lip Pigment in Don’t Stop $26

This orangy-red lip from NARS is a newcomer on the block and is destined to be a classic. The formula for this red is unicorn-like and deserves all kinds of “best of” awards. It’s unapologetically bold and bright and lasts an entire day of work presentations and happy hours.

4.) Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Fiery $22

This is my second favorite red matte lipstick. I discovered this red from another beauty blogger who raved about it. But back then paying $22 was far out of my range. Now I know that there is no cost for the best. Even though it’s matte it’s not super dry which means there might be a slight transfer. You can avoid this be blotting a little bit after your application and be sure to let the formula completely dry.

5.)Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Stunna Lip Paint in Uncensored $24

I don’t think any of us could have predicted how amazing Rihanna’s beauty collection would be. We thought she was done when she released her 40 shades of freaking amazingness but then she dropped this Stunna on us. It’s so universally flattering that beauty gurus have deemed this the new Ruby Woo.
