3 Powerful Reasons You Should Try Something New

When was the last time you tried something new? And not like a new food (but you should do that too). Something big, something that felt like a risk because it takes a big investment of time or money or energy. Maybe the pandemic made your “something new” an impossibility. But if you’re like me, you may have birthed a new baby or two during quarantine. I’m sure you know by now that I’ve been deejaying since the start of 2020 and it has become such an important part of my life.

Here are some of the top reasons you should try something new…

1. Be scared

Does fear keep you from trying new things? I know it’s terrifying to try new things. The lingering feelings of imposter syndrome. Hell, you probably already feel imposter syndrome for things you’re already great at (which… stop… you are amazing)! Diving into “something new” is the hardest part— deciding that you won’t be paralyzed and let your fear control your life. If you start practicing this, you’ll be unstoppable in every area of your life.

2. Stretch new muscles

When we were kids, we had to try new things all the time. We had required classes in school and you probably played a bit of every sport under the sun during gym class. But odds are you’ve gotten stuck in a routine with life. You know what you like and you stay away from everything else. It’s time to stretch those muscles again— you might find some new muscles you never knew you had.

3. A dose of happiness

For those of you who tune in to my Twitch streams every week, first of all I see you and appreciate you. It’s always a party in the chat. Secondly, I hope you can see the joy that deejaying brings me. Even when technology glitches and tries to stop our party I am having a blast. There is a child-like joy that cannot be contained when you try something new. Let that joy into your life!
