#ExperienceBuick: Detroit Through The Eyes Of Buick

During my #ExperienceBuick travels (catch up here) I’ve seen a lot of Detroit. So much so that it’s a city I’ve really grown to love. It’s rebirth of urban living is quite inspiring. But this trip I got to see Detroit from the eyes of one of its biggest supporter–Buick.

Besides getting to test drive this baby (ain’t she perfect!), I actually got a peek at the behind the scenes of car making. From the design concepts, to the sound rooms, to the big weather proof car wash thingee, I got sucked into loving more than just the drive. It’s amazing to see a product from finish to end. Just think, we were once riding on horses for transportation. So glad I missed that trend.

I got to travel to the General Motors headquarters in Milford, Detroit. We were allowed to take ANY photos, our phone was “PICpatched” because… #Secrets. We were told if we removed the patches they’d know and they’d have to erase all our phone data, umm… #WhatYouWontDoIs.

The “Color & Trim” Buick gals explained the important details on picking colors for cars. From the dashboard, the interior and the accents colors I got the intel.

But believe it or not, although we love chartreuse and hot fuchsia, Americans want muted colored cars. Go figure right?

I even got to meet this legend (and his work) who meticulously hand stitches the leather around every single steering wheel. And he’s done this for like 30 years!

The next morning we headed to the General Motors Proving Grounds were we all got to relive those car wash days where we pretended to be attacked by thunder storms. But this mega car wash was like Splash Mountain on steroids! Designed to withstand a small tsunami, we got to see how the Buick Cascada held up in rain.

Of course the car passed all the test and then we got to get behind the wheels. Vroom!
