The Oscar Night Feud: Gaslighting, Protecting Black Women + More

LISTEN TO EP 46: ITUNES | SPOTIFY

It's the day after the Oscars Night Feud between Will Smith and Chris Rock and I have something to say about it. But in this week's episode, I am bringing back friend of the show and trauma therapist, Kobe Campbell for her expert opinion and a little therapy unpacking session.

For context: Chris Rock was on stage at the Oscars to present an award and made a “G.I. Jane” joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair. Will Smith then went up on stage and slapped (da **** outta) him before walking back to his seat and screaming “keep my wife’s name out of your f**king mouth.” It became clear very quickly that this was not a “bit” for the show. For more context: Jada’s hair is buzzed short because she has alopecia.

We unpack what emotions we went through as we watched these events unfold and what this entire moment meant for black women everywhere.
