You should know by now that I am a huge advocate for therapy. I believe everyone deserves a space where they feel seen and understood. So I wanted to put this list together to help you (or someone you know) find the resources you need to start your own therapy journey with a therapist who understands your experiences as a Black person.
Therapy for Black Girls - It's like this cozy, welcoming online space dedicated to promoting mental wellness among Black women. You'll find a robust directory of therapists who get it. Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective (BEAM) - 'BEAM' is a collective of advocates, yoga teachers, artists, therapists, lawyers, religious leaders, teachers, psychologists, and activists committed to the emotional/mental health and healing of Black communities. Their directory is diverse and their approach holistic, ensuring you find a therapist who resonates with your individual needs. π
Black Therapists Rock - A name that says it all, right? They have a fab directory of Black therapists who are committed to supporting the mental wellness of the Black community. Whether it's dealing with stress, anxiety, or just needing someone to talk to, they've got you covered.
Inclusive Therapists - This is your go-to if you're looking for a therapist who not only understands your cultural background but also your identity and values. They're all about creating a safe, affirming space for everyone, including POC, LGBTQ+ individuals, and neurodiverse folks. π
Psychology Today - This is like the Google of therapists! You can filter by race, issues, and even payment options. It's an incredible resource for finding Black therapists.
National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network - This one is a gem! They focus on providing mental health resources for the queer and trans people of color community. π³οΈβπ
Black Men Heal - Their mission is to provide access to mental health treatment, psycho-education, and community resources to men. They understand the unique struggles faced by Black men and offer services that are culturally competent and understanding.
