#ExperienceBuick: My NCAA Trip That Didn’t End With Me Marrying Jalen Rose

If you’re a daily reader of mine than you already know that I’ve been traveling with Buick on the hunt for amazing experiences around the country. If you’re not a daily reader shame on you but here’s your chance to catch up.

Since Buick is a proud sponsor of the NCAA Final Four they invited us to be a part of the entire Final Four experience in Indianapolis.

So I’ll start this recap with a funny story. When I was in college I swore I was going to marry Chris Webber. Or Jalen Rose. Or any of the fab five really. And although I had a small stint playing basketball in high school, my interest in the sport started and ended with the cuteness of those five players. So when I saw Jalen Rose at the hotel front desk where were staying during this trip I nearly fainted. Until I realized he was old and fat. #DreamsCrushed

Anyways.

Once I landed, I met up with these silly folks and headed for a mini-tour of the city.

There was no way we were coming to this big tournament and not standing in line for this epic photo. It felt a little surreal because I’ve always imagined going to the NCAA, so I was finally able to cross this off of my bucket list (I should do a post about all the things I want to do, huh).

No Friday is complete without happy hour. So we headed out for dinner at Cerulean followed by cocktails, live music and more good food at Union 50.

We topped the night off with an Indy After Dark concert at the Indiana Rooftop Ballroom. The treat was that we got to see the iconic rock band, Journey perform. The disappointment was that I only knew one song and I waited as long as I could for them to sing that song but I tapped out after about 20 minutes. Of course they ended up singing that song as soon as I laid my head down.

The next day we wandered around the city stopping at South Bend Chocolate Cafe and the Indianapolis City Market. Here’s were my inner fat kid came out. There were rows and rows of local eats, fresh produce, CHEESE (I love cheese) and more.

Yes guys…this is a marshmallow. But I swear it was the most magnificent marshmallow I’ve ever tasted. Salted caramel. Roasted over an open flame. #JesusBeSomeCrunches.

I won’t bore you with all the things I ate while I was there. Just know I did a lot of that.

I’m from Maryland so I was rooting for the Terps. That didn’t end so well. So I went into Indianapolis routing for Kentucky. Well that didn’t end so well either. I was bummed I was loosing in my bracket, but when we headed to the courts to play some ball…now that made my day!

Clearly this shot didn’t make it, and I’m way rusty(er) than I thought.

It’s a no brainer…this was most definitely the highlight of my trip. Being able to actually play on the same court as the NCAA players. Yep! I had a blast.

If you’re a basketball fan, than you know what team won (). And I’m still single, so my dreams of marrying Jalen Rose are a bust. Oh wells.

The homies! (Thunda aka CPT, Me, GQ Smooth & DJ AWG – all inside jokes you won’t get)
