Maintaining my sanity despite my negative self-talk

I know for lots of people looking at my life from the outside it can seem like I have it all together. But bih I am falling completely a part every second. But somehow I manage to smile through it like a dough dough bird. I get asked all the time what inspires me to keep moving forward. And the truth is, on a daily basis I want to give up.

I struggle with what my success means. I am a slave to imposter syndrome. And I am constantly trying to validate how I got here. I also struggle with situational depression (I’m really starting to wonder if it’s situational?). I often struggle with whether or not I deserve to be here because nothing about my success is traditional. On my podcast, I confess to my self-sabotaging ways and I share some practical ways I maintain my sanity so I figured I’d drop 5 top tier gems that have been keeping me afloat.

  1. I recognize that my feelings are not factual. Knowing that some of the things I feel are laced with trauma, or lack of empathy, or paranoia has helped me see them for what the are. Just a moment. But not my truth.

  2. Share the shame. I am a vicious over sharer. Blame the Internet. But it’s been what has saved me on most days. But if social media isn’t your things and you feel yourself spiraling, tell your friends. They’ll either commiserate with you or tell you you’re tripping. Both are valuable. People on social media do this really well too.

  3. Take stock in daily accomplishments and celebrate them. No accomplishment is too small. Did you get out of bed today? I’m proud of you. And don’t be afraid to hype yourself up about the big accomplishments, too. You deserve to brag about yourself at every turn.

  4. Focus on the work you’re doing right now. When you put the work first you automatically silence that false idea in your head of being a fraud. Because it’s not about you, it’s about the work you are doing. PeriodT!

  5. Most importantly, do not beat yourself up for the things you fall short of. I bet right now you’re saying to yourself ‘I knew those four tips already.’ Me too, sis! But we are humans. We forget. We need reminders.

In comments, tell me something that’s keeping you afloat.

toodles, ty 👋🏾 🥰 😘
