Secrets Revealed: Stacy London’s New Book The Truth About Style (& I am in it!)
Have you ever tried keeping a secret? How about for months, or even nearly a year? I swear I am busting at my Forever21 jeans with this information. Well, finally I can share a little more detail about the project I was featured in with Stacy London.
I did a teaser post about it back in January (read that post here) but let me do a refresher for you guys.
HOW IT ALL HAPPENED.
Twitter! No lie. It’s a simple story. Someone retweeted Stacy, I read, and I responded immediately. She was looking for real women to feature in her new book. You had to email a story of your style and the style struggles you faced. I wrote about being a frustrated young woman trying hard to quit the cheap quick style fix of Forever21. Of course, I added a few long adjectives and fancy verbs but it was all from the heart. A few weeks later I got THAT email. Months later I was having the weekend of my life with Stacy London at a swanky NY photography studio. It had a huge fish tank in the wall, LOL! We cried and laughed and laughed and I cried again at the end because it was over. I’m so excited for this project and I cannot wait to see the images and read how they translated my story.
In the meantime here’s my new mohawk, gasp!
ABOUT THE BOOK
In The Truth About Style, London shares her own often painful history and her philosophy of the healing power of personal style—illustrating it with a series of detailed “start-overs” with eight real women (I am one of them!), demonstrating how personal style helps them overcome the emotional obstacles we all face. For anyone who has ever despaired of finding the right clothes, or even taking an objective assessment in a full-length mirror, The Truth About Style will be an inspiring, liberating, and often very funny guide to finding the expression of your truest self.
