6 Habits That Are Preventing Your Happiness

We often talk a lot about the habits that will bring you happiness but we never really talk about those habits that chase happiness completely away. You’re probably doing at least a couple of these things, I know I do them sometimes. But have you ever considered the negative impact that these habits could be having on your life?


Eliminate it!

1.     Unnecessary spending. One of the greatest stressors in life is financial issues. Think about the rewarding feeling you gain by spending and then find a less destructive way to accomplish the same thing.


2.     Postponing your life. We’re always waiting for something to happen before we can take action. Ask yourself right now, are those things really stopping you from your end goal? There will never be the perfect time. And time is the only thing none of us can get back.


3.     Blaming others for your challenges. No one else, and I do mean NOT A SOUL, is going to fix it for you.


4.     Not staying grounded in the present. Stop claiming trauma before it happens to you. Try paying attention to your thoughts for an entire day. Notice how much time you spend thinking about the past (which is regret) or the future (which is anxiety).


5.     Holding a grudge. If someone has wronged you, you are well within your right to not trust that person again. Forgiveness is not reconnection. Learn and push forward.


6.     Focusing on the challenge instead of the solution. This is my hardest work when we think about cultivating healing experiences. Spend your time and your energy focusing on finding a way to make things better.


Allow yourself to be happy by letting go of your anti-happiness habits. You’ll find that happiness isn’t as challenging to achieve as you thought.
