How I Keep My Grey Hair So…Silver!

Everyone thinks that having naturally grey hair is super cool. And it’s true. Ever since I’ve embraced my natural grey hair I’ve felt like a unicorn. But there’s one caveat. The harsh reality of having grey or silver hair is that it can be hard work to keep your hair bright and beautiful silver. I think this is one of the reasons people don’t keep their natural grey hair and opt for dyeing. It seems like there are not even people talking about those moments when you go-to flat iron your hair and realize that the heat setting is far too high and now you’ve achieved a very unflattering brassy yellow hair color.

I’ve also learned the many ways my hair can get grey. My hair sometimes turns yellow from the sun or food. And here’s a fun semi-useless fact: eating lots of carrots or other foods high in carotene can make your hair and skin appear yellow. And if your water system has a high iron content that could also be causing your hair to turn yellow.

The main culprit for me is my flat iron,  and no matter how much I clean it or the temperature setting my hair can still get brassy. But I’ve found a solution that reduces the brassiness and it’s 100% paraben- and silicone-free.

The Pantene Pro-V Silver Expressions Purple Shampoo is a creamy, lightly-scented formula that works harder than your flat iron and water with high-iron content. It removes and prevents the dulling residue that can leave silver or grey hair looking yellow and brassy and works almost like a color-correcting shampoo. The Pantene Silver Expressions Purple Shampoo has a purple-pigmented formula that reduces natural brassiness, giving your grey locks a brighter, more toned look. The purple shampoo infuses your locks with notes of fresh lotus flower, and it is even safe to use on dyed grey hair. When applying the shampoo, make sure you hit the brassiest areas and allow the product to sit for 3-5 minutes before rinsing. I’m going to use it 2-4 times a month, but you can use it for every wash.

I’ve used tons of other shampoos claiming to clarify your hair only to just leave it with a purple tint. Cool, but that’s not what I signed up for. This formula from the Pantene Silver Expressions Purple Shampoo is by far my favorite. Pick yours up now on Amazon!
