How To Pack For Your Cruise Without Regrets

I took my first real cruise this year. And when I say real I mean it was more than a few days at sea. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. But like most trips I take, I just threw some things in a bag and kept it moving (because…packing sucks!). And because packing, and unpacking, sucks this is my version of packing.

Listen, that was a horribly bad idea!

I forgot SO much stuff. My entire week consisted of top of the morning grunts followed by, “I wish I had…”! So I made a list of things that we need to pack for before we take our next cruise vacation!

Coffee Mug

BAN.DO BUT FIRST MUG

If you’re that girl who loves your cup of joe first thing in the morning, those teeny tiny paper cups that they give you for coffee will not cut it for you. Pack your favorite coffee mug so that you can have the proper amount of caffeine in the morning to keep you energized.

Water bottle

CONTIGO® ASHLAND 24OZ WATER BOTTLE – GRAY

I have a serious issue with paying $47,2979,471,937 for a bottle of water. And even if you do forget your water bottle, be sure to keep that bottle you paid for and use it to stay hydrated throughout your stay. The water on the boat is just as safe!

Blow dryer

INFINITI BY CONAIR PRO 1875 WATT STYLER MODEL

There was a blow dryer on the cruise, but it was like having my little brother blow on my hair for hours. Le sigh! I found a travel sized blow dryer that’s perfect for our next trip! *does happy dance* The best part is that the Infiniti by Conair Pro 1875 Watt boasts up to 50% faster drying time! This way you can spend more time having fun in the sun and less time drying your hair!

Carry on with meds and swimsuits

On the day that you embark (meaning get on the ship) you have to check your bags. And chances are you won’t get your bags back for a good six hours. Make sure you pack a carry on with some meds and your swimsuits. You might want to head to the pool first while you wait!

Extra hangers

HOME BASICS HOME BASICS 10-PK. PLASTIC HANGERS

Because there can never be too many! Me and my boyfriend fought the entire time over hangers. Pack a few extra ones for convenience and to save you from having an unnecessary argument with BAE.

Bathroom door organizer

WALLYBAGS TRAVEL ORGANIZER

I’ll warn you now the bathroom is not big, unless you opted for a luxury sized room (you ballin’ huh?!). And while the ship is amazing, the point is NOT to spend a lot of time in your room. SO who needs a big bathroom anyways. But as women we overpack, it’s just what we do, so make sure you have a sturdy travel organizer that can hang from the bathroom door. This will also keep you from losing your favorite beauty product while your on vacation!

Power strip

Belkin 3-Outlet SurgePlus Mini Travel Swivel Charger Surge Protector

So there were maybe two or three outlets in our room. And I actually looked at my power strip before leaving home and said, “I won’t need this” and threw it back on the floor! LIES. All lies. Pack a power strip that has two or more outlet options and a spot for your USB cords! This one is my favorite.

Dramamine or Ginger pills

DRAMAMINE 50MG

There was one night were it really felt like I was going to die from my vomit. And I had NO meds, and the stores on the ship were closed for the night. I laid in bed for hours gagging and I was miserable. I promise you this is torture. Even if you aren’t prone to sea sickness, get the drugs for safety. Or do your due diligence and bring just in case a stranger (like me) is in need.

Waterproof case or bag

Universal Waterproof Case, JOTO CellPhone Dry Bag for Apple iPhone

We did all kinds of fun things in the water. I have NO pictures because I didn’t have a Go Pro (I got one now) or a waterproof bag for my phone to capture the memory. This one is only $10!

Bring a jacket or sweater

ASOS ONE DAY PLUS LONGLINE CARDI

I’m so glad I decided to slide a sweater in my bag. I almost didn’t. I’m like, it’s the Caribbean, its hot. Yea sure, during the day. At night in the middle of the ocean it get a little chilly. Pack a sweater or little jacket for those midnight walks on the ship.

Mark bags fragile

So technically you might be lying here. There’s probably nothing really fragile in your bag. But! Here’s my argument: I don’t want you throwing my good DVF luggage around like it’s a play toy. So…mark it fragile and the handlers will take better care of your luxury luggage. Bonus tip: take a picture of your luggage just in case it gets lost. Instead of trying to describe what’s in your bag, you’ll have a picture of it in your phone.

Make copies of your id

There’s nothing worst than losing your id on vacation. I’m going to pray this never happens to you because it’s literally a Hell on Earth experience. But JUST IN CASE YOU DO…have copies for emergency purposes. You can also take pictures on your phone too. You will be thankful you did!

The Regal Princess

So.. now that we are all fully versed on what to pack, where are we going next? LOL.
