All the ways you can support someone without giving suggestions

LISTEN TO EP 84: APPLE PODCASTS | SPOTIFY

This weeks episode is prompted by a conversation I was having with a good girlfriend of mine. As you can imagine, most of my friends are on the Internet. Either as influencers or people who are really good at influencing but are in denial about being an actual influencer. And most of my friends are in a state of practicing radical vulnerability. We all share our experiences on the Internet.

Ya know, I took you on the journey with me when I got married. I took you on the journey with me when I got a hysterectomy. I took you on the journey with me as I learned to deejay. I basically take you everywhere with me. But... in return that comes other people's opinions, suggestions, and thoughts. And that part can be extremely overwhelming. Especially when you multiply that by roughly 112,000 people.

And what I am finding is that a lot of us believe that this is the price you pay for fame or popularity. Imagine tragedy happening to you and 2 million plus people start having discourse about your trauma as if you don't exist? Mentally, this is hard. It's also rude of us if you think about it.

I wanna give you some gems on how to support your friends but especially your favorite Internet gworls, like me, but without giving them suggestions.

You're probably thinking, “I mean what's wrong with that? I am just helping.” I get it. We get it. Your intention is solid. You are attempting to be helpful. But imagine already being overwhelmed by the decisions of life and then top that with 112,000 people giving you directives on how to fix it. Some the same suggestions. Some good. Some bad. But still a lot of directives.

Imagine if you were gentle with the people you love and support on the Internet. Well lucky for you, you don't gotta think that hard. Ima give you 9 ways to support someone without giving suggestions.
