Can You Recover From Grief

LISTEN TO EP 15: ITUNES | SPOTIFY

What’s up, loves— I’m back for season two! You may have noticed that I rebranded the podcast from Destination Heal to Self Care IRL. Last season was a complete eye opener for me. Not just in the topics we got to discuss together, but also how I viewed our healing journeys. Simply put: there is no destination in our healing process. There’s never going to be a moment when we ARRIVE. We will forever be a work in progress. This episode, I unpack my beliefs about grief recovery and some practical ways you can lean into the recovery.

3 Absolutes in Grief

1.     You decide HOW you recover.

2.     You decide WHEN you recover.

3.     You decide IF you recover.

  • We choose our joys and sorrows long before we experience them.

  • I remember spending the holidays with my aunt after my mom died. I found joy in the midst of a holiday season that could have been very sorrowful.

  • It is completely possible for you to experience joy inside of your grief.

Grief Recovery

  • Choose you first. Recovery starts with radical self-care.

  • Even though the word “self” is at the core of this activity you don’t have to do it alone. You can do it with the help of your core circle.

  • I know you may feel like a burden to people, but to your true core people you will never be a burden. Now is not the time to isolate yourself.

  • I recognize that a lot of women, especially women of color, may not get that opportunity. Which is one of the reasons why I created Self Care IRL and our membership community.
